Search Engines like Google, Yahoo! andBing generate revenue via Pay-Per-Click or Cost-Per-Click model, where advertisers only pay when users click on the Ads.

Every Search Engines have their team of people consists of engineers, marketing professionals, researchers and so on. They mainly focus on the psychology and search behavior of their users.
Web searchers use the Search Engines for free. So, Search Engines’ only goal is to provide faster, fresher and more relevant content otherwise users have the choice to switch the Search Engine.
Search Engines’ success depends on relevance of the search results. So, they always deal brutally with spammers because any manipulation of search engine rankings results in inappropriate and irrelevant content to their users. Thereby loosing the market share.
