iSpaces provide an interesting cloud-browser service
An Irish startup called iSpaces has launched a beta-version of a „cloud-based browser“ product called CloudBrowser.
In its first phase, it provides an interesting option for users to work
in a browser that is run from the cloud, i.e. a “browser within a
browser”. This enables a seamless usage experience as it becomes
irrelevant from what computer the user accesses his browser sessions.
The user can open any number of browser windows or tabs and log into any
Web application as needed that are then accessible from any computer.
According to Dermot Doherty, iSpaces founder, the impetus behind iSpaces was the emerging need for instantly accessing Web applications from any location, making digital live easier and more persistent. With this persistency, users can seamlessly access all of their open windows and tabs from any computer with an Internet connection.
iSpaces will soon launch the CloudBrowser for all browsers and platofrms and with support for smartphones and tablets. Furthermore, VoIP and SpacePhone are under development. As a rcent startup, iSpaces is working on its second round of fundraining with already more than 30 investors from around the world.
In summary, iSpaces seems to offer an interesting alternative for users that want to deploy a cloud-based browser. The idea relates to the larger perspective of wholly virtualized, cloud-based desktops or Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) where the user accesses his desktop in the cloud through a thin-client.
The iSpaces services are currently free of charge.
